What's Happening in SOCES...
If you didn't send your signed petition letters to school, you can scan or photograph them and email the directly to your building Co-President. But please do so today - decisions about the NYS budget are being made in Albany in the next few days.
Congratulations to all our SOCES (and SOMS and TZHS students, too!) who participated in the 2nd Annual STEAM Expo on March 24th. We were impressed and amazed by all the great inventions, experiments, and projects you've all worked on. Keep up the great work - we can't wait to see what you come up with next year! Founders Day Celebration
On a cold, but not snowy, evening February 24th, we celebrated PTA Founders Day by awarding Willy Sullivan-Power, bottom, with an Honorary Lifetime Membership in recognition of all she has done in her years as a volunteer to bridge the connection between home and school. Among other roles, Willy has served Assemblies Coordinator, bringing wonderful, interactive learning experiences to our students, and as Fundraising Chairperson, raising thousands of dollars to help fund SOCES PTA's programs and events. Willy was humbled when Co-President Kris Campbell, top, introduced her as a driving force for PTA. Willy noted that she was raised in a family where volunteering is very important. She said she only realized, while reading the evening's program, that her grandfather is also a Founders Day nominee! Congratulations Willy!

Help SOCES PTA Advocate for Your Children
Decisions about our children's education, about Common Core and state testing and about funding for our schools will all be made this week by the Governor and the legislator. Now, more than ever, your voice is needed. Please visit our new Advocacy page for details on how you can contact our elected officials and tell them enough is enough.
