Next SOCES PTA Meeting - Wednesday, March 12th.
SOCES PTA asks you to print, sign, and return to your child's school the attached letters to Senator Davind Carlucci and Assembly Member Ellen Jaffee and send them in with your children. There has been a lot of talk about Common Core and New York State Implementation of the Common Core. Read the cover letter from WOS VP about her experiences and why we all need to advocate:
"We have to speak up. We need to write letters. We need to call. We need to get LOUD. Lets's get our legislators into our school to hear us. We start by writing. You can copy the letters. You can paraphrase from them. Use them any way it works for you.
We are the flashing yellow lights in this - we are not asking to stop implementation - just SLOW DOWN.
WE NEED TO BE HEARD: SLOW DOWN FOR OUR CHILDREN."
"I want us to be loud and clear. Write them. Sign them. Get them to me. I will get them to the Governor and Legislators.Send the signed letters to school with your children. The letters be delivered, and HEARD."
